These terms apply when you use SEQUENS. Please read them. If something here is unclear, ask us rather than guessing.

What SEQUENS provides
SEQUENS generates teaching materials, records what you tell it, and produces reports from that record. It is a tool used by a professional or a parent, not a replacement for their judgement. SEQUENS suggests and a human confirms. Nothing is generated, recorded or acted on until you say so.
Generated material is a draft. You are responsible for checking it before it is used with children, and every generated artefact is marked as AI-assisted. Where material aligns to a national curriculum we say so and tell you to verify the exact wording. SEQUENS is not accredited by any awarding body, inspectorate or government department, and makes no claim to be.
Your account
You must be 18 or over to hold an account. Keep access to your sign-in email secure, because whoever can read that inbox can sign in. Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has access.
School accounts are provisioned by the school. The school decides who has access and is responsible for removing people who leave.
Payment, cancellation and refunds
Subscriptions are billed in advance at the price shown when you subscribe. We will tell you at least 30 days before any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Your 14-day cancellation right. If you are a consumer, you may cancel within 14 days of subscribing and receive a refund, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. If you have asked us to start the service straight away and used it during those 14 days, we may deduct a proportionate amount for what you used. To cancel, write to hello@sequens.education. You do not have to give a reason.
After 14 days. You can cancel at any time and your subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate part months unless the service has failed materially, in which case the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies and we will put it right, reduce the price, or refund you.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Your content, and what you may do with what we generate
You keep ownership of everything you write and everything you enter. We claim no ownership of it and we do not use it to train AI models.
Material generated for you is licensed for use by your own school or your own family. It is not licensed for resale, redistribution or publication as a commercial product. If you want to use it more widely than that, ask us.
Acceptable use
Do not upload material you have no right to upload, including copyrighted schemes of work or awarding-body specifications you are not licensed to share. Do not use SEQUENS to produce material that is unlawful, discriminatory, or harmful to children. Do not attempt to extract personal data about other users or to interfere with the service.
Availability, and the honest bit
We aim to keep the service available but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Generated content can be wrong. That is why review is a required step rather than an optional one, and why we do not present output as final.
Liability
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.
If you are a school, you remain responsible for your statutory duties, including safeguarding, curriculum and assessment. SEQUENS supports those duties and does not discharge them.
Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why. On closure you can export your data, and we delete it within 30 days.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
